The Burglar, part 7

Now we have to go to another person's side of the story.....
Detective J R Peters sat in her office, undecided. Earlier that evening, she had seen what appeared to be Shirley Combs driving into a stolen goods shop with stolen goods. Should she follow up this lead, or ignore it and allow such a bright and coming detective to rise in the police world?

She sat several minutes, weighing the pros and cons of each situation. Finally, she came to a decision...

Yes, that's all for today. I will post more...eventually. If you haven't read the rest of the story, click the label "Burglar" on the side of my blog.

A Story Idea

As of today and yesterday, I am working on a story--and I need some help!

Firstly, I need a girl's name. I also would like to know what she looks like. Since she is an identical twin, keep that in mind... I do have one name. I only need one.

Second, I need to know how old these girls are. They can be anywhere between 18 and 50...your pick!

And last, I need a big city for one of them to live in. NOT Denver! and NOT in Wyoming! (there aren't any, so that wouldn't be too hard) =D

that's all, please comment with your ideas! I do seriously want everyone's opinion..and if I get enough comments I will post the story soon....=^D

My Favicon! Finally!

Hello readers, followers, anyone who sees this blog! Isn't it a wonderful day?

I got my favicon up! I have had that thing on my dashboard for ages, but it finally showed up today! Yes!

What do you think?

Artsy Award!

Yes...I know I know I know. I have been gone for ages! Since last Friday! And there is a reason...

random fact= Cows are not supposed to take 14 hours to trail eleven miles.

On to the real reason for this post!
I got an award! The Artsy Award! Thank you so much, Storyteller!

Anyway, so here are the rules.

Rules:

1. Normally this is where it says "thank the person who gave you the award and leave a link to their blog etc. etc." Well, you can do that if you want. I mean, if you like the award and you're glad you got it and you can do that. Or you can just copy this and have people listen to me rambling. :)

Thank you...Storyteller!

2. Answer the five questions set out for you and make the next five questions for the people that you nominate.  So, if you get awarded, here are your five questions:

1) Would you rather listen to music or make the music?

both! yes!

2) If you must be forced, I always like to ask this question [just because I'm oh-so-curious] :)--anyway, so the question is, what is your favorite part about me? (I promise that's the last boring question) :P

I like your stories and your sweetness..

3) Would you rather go to the beach or the mountains?

Hmmm... probably the beach..I live pretty close to mountains

4) Tea or coffee?

Tea..definitely!

5) Volleyball or basketball?

Neither!

Now here's my questions for those I award to answer!
#1. What sort of book do you like best?
#2. Have you ever been somewhere exotic? (Like the caribbean or africa or any neat place like that) And if you have, where was it?
#3. Bread & Butter, Toast, or French Toast?
#4. Which school subject do you like best? (If you're not in school anymore, which subject did you like best?)
#5. Do you like my blog?

3. OK, so usually there's a "NO TAGBACKS" rule. I'm here to say that in #3 of this award you can tag or not tag or whatever you want to do. Agreed? Agreed. ;)

4. Award five people (at the least) or as many as you like this award.

Madeline@ Instantly British
Jenna@ A Beautiful Heart
The Keller Girls@ Three Girls And Their Hobbies
Madeline May@ Totally Me!
Storyteller@ Dragonmaster

5. Notify the people you awarded.

Will do!

That's all for now!

New Header and a Quiz

What do you think of my new header and my blog button? Storyteller designed them for me! Aren't they AWESOME!

Now, several people have voted quiz on my poll, so here all you guys go!
This is a quiz to see how much like my story characters in the Julia story you are.

1. If you were a slave, and your owners freed you for your services, what would you do?
     A. Remember your former owners and help them out if possible when you can.
     B. Be so glad you're free! And think about your former owners with fondness sometimes.
     C. Freedom....ahh....oh, I suppose I should help them if I hear they need it.
     D. Who cares about them? You're free! Celebrate!

2. If your former owners got the plague, what would you do?
     A. Go and help them willingly, not caring that you might catch the plague and die.
     B. Cry about it, but you can't help them. You might get sick!
     C. Help them reluctantly, from a sense of duty.
     D. Leave them alone. You'll be glad if they die!

3. One of your friends is being persecuted because they are a Christian. You...
     A. Stand up for them boldly.
     B. Sympathize with them after it's happened, but are too nervous to stop the bully.
     C. After you realize that the persecution is getting really bad, stand up for your friend.
     D. Stay away from your friend and pretend you don't know them.

4. You are brought into the Coliseum and told that you will be thrown to the lions if you don't recant your Christian faith. You....
     A. Declare that you will never recant and trust God for the strength you need.
     B. Freeze in fear, but don't say anything--you didn't recant!
     C. After you boldy say that you could never recant, you fight the men holding you and escape.
     D. Recant in fear. It's just a religion, and you don't want to die!

If you got mostly A's, you are Lydia. If you got mostly B's, you are Julia, and if you got mostly C's, you are Marcus. And if you got mostly D's (which I hope no one gets) you are the odious Domitian.

That's all for now!

The Burglar, Part 6

I went in and looked at her. "Yes, ma'am, what did you call me for?"

Detective Peters looked at me approvingly. "You've been doing very well, Ms. Combs. Your record is nearly spotless. But I see that there were a few cases that you could not find the answers for. Do you have anything to say about these?"

I looked down. I just hadn't been able to solve any of those cases where I knew I was the culprit. Strange, isn't it? But I had to answer Detective Peters.

"Yes, I know I didn't do such a good job on those cases. The clues all seemed to lead to dead ends."

She nodded slowly, a strange look in her eye. I wondered what that meant. Had she found out my secret?

"Mmhmm, I understand, and I know you will try to do better in future."

I nodded. "Yes, ma'am, I will."

I went out of the office, half afraid that she suspected something. She hadn't been on any of those cases, had she? Strange.

And that leads me up to the point where I began this confession. By now I was the best of burglars. I could commit a house burglary and be gone within thirty minutes. Before I had been cautious, but now I began to be a little bit bolder. I would do another one every couple of weeks.

As I drove up to the stolen goods dealer's place, I saw a person just standing across the street. I vaugely thought that I recognized the face just before I went into the building.

A gap in my posts....

Alright. Yes, I know it has been forever since I posted. and I also know that you want to know what is going to happen next to the Burglar....

I will post more on The Burglar soon. It will be my next post, I promise.

But that is not what I am talking about today. Today I am announcing that I am not going to be posting on Tuesdays anymore. The reason is undisclosed...and I'm going to keep it that way, for security reasons....

Now you're all going to wonder what I'm doing. Am I on a secret mission? Am a newspaper reporter for someone...and I work on Tuesdays?

You'll never know.

The Burglar, Part 5

Angela, (my roommate) smiled slyly. "You'll need to prove to me that I can trust you before I tell you."

I frowned. What could Angela mean? I tilted my head to the side, and used my reasoning skills to analyse this problem. Ohhhh. When Angela had looked at the package, she'd probably picked up two packs, and only put one back. I narrowed my eyes. "I know what you did."

Angela glanced at me with steely eyes. "Mortia Combs, you'll deeply regret it if you tell."

I looked at her. "Oh, I'm not going to tell. I want you to teach me how to do that."

And thus began my life of crime. Soon I was learning how to commit bigger thefts, advancing through the levels of burglary quickly.

Through it all, I was a beginner on the police force, and my superiors thought I was a very promising dectective. I finally changed my name, so I was actually Shirley Combs. Shirley was a much better name than Mortia.

Then one day, the ranking detective called me into her office.

Whyyy....

Does anyone have any idea what the point of Labor Day is? And why, if you don't work on Labor Day, is it called Labor Day? It ought to be called Non-Labor Day. Hmmm? Doesn't that seem to make more sense?

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise...hymn!

Here is another hymn that I really like. I wish I could post the music for it also, but oh well.

Immortal, invisible God only wise,
In light inaccessible, hid from our eyes,
Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great name we praise.

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, Thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

To all, life Thou givest, to both great and small,
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish like leaves on a tree,
And wither and perish - but naught changeth Thee.

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All praise we would render; O help us to see
'Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!
by Walter Chalmers Smith

So what do you think?
